The Library of Las Tunas was created in December 2004. It was managed by the neighbours since it creation, today it answers the needs of a variety of readers, becoming a true cultural space open to the community, which helps people to grow and also encourages their creativity through different activities.
The Library of Las Tunas promotes reading, cultural awareness and learning. Since 2011, already located in the new headquarters, we have received an average of 15 group visits to the library from different kindergarten and elementary school classes in the neighborhood: 915, 943, 946, and the Jardín del Sol.
In addition, children from different Las Tunas programs, make use of the library for their curricular areas. Especially those who attend the Arts workshops, who investigate and seek for new ideas from art related books.
The use of Internet as a free resource is another service we offer, although exclusively to gather information for school subjects. The use of new technologies captures the attention of more children every day.
The Library currently has 300 members signed up, all residents of the neighborhood, and its has lent over 4000 books throughout the years, supporting access to literature and providing a space for children to do their homework.
