Youth Art Workshop
The workshop seeks to create a space for the young people of the neighborhood to discover and express their inner world through art, strengthening their self-worth, releasing their creativity and giving new significance to their experience and environment.
The art workshop began in August 2008 and continues to this day. Over time, the weekly hours devoted to the workshop have been incremented, and visits to attend art displays periodically have been organized to encourage reflection and inspiration.
The annual work plan encourages students to find a creative issue to work with. The pace of the work at the workshop is planned by seasons, seeking to generate a conscious look that values the individual artistic processes and promotes reflection. Given that the need for expression comes before the techniques and skills, we know we can create and make the most of the beauty in us.
The five-hour weekly schedule, together with reflection on the observation of artworks by other artists, encourage and foster the students' curiosity. Motivates the students to venture into the realm of the unknown and in a space of freedom, where they learn how to express their ideas.

When Carmen suggested we do a life-size head sculpture in clay, I was surprised. There were times when I was scared, I was afraid to do something and then have to undo it; but then you start getting involved. It was difficult but it was worth it.

What I like most are the visits to art galleries, I like to see the work of other artists to get inspired and improve. I also enjoyed making the head sculpture, because then I was able to learn how to refine or improve what I was doing, it's like creating someone, and even though it's not perfect, it is art.

In each finished work I have discovered new techniques that I think are necessary, although sometimes I've had little connection with some of the artworks, in the long run they've helped me.

About the workshop, I like the good atmosphere the most. The tranquility that is achieved by focusing in a specific job is very pleasant. At the start, working with clay was quite complex, but I enjoyed trying again and again. I hope to be able to work in the near future with the same material.
Wednesdays 17:00 through 20:00 hs and Fridays 17:30 through 19:30 hs.
